Al Moyer

Al has served on the Gettysburg School District board for the past six years. He has been a board officer as well as currently serves as the legislative liaison and on two board committees. Al has over four decades of experience in education, Thirty-six years in public education as a teacher and administrator. Al served as school superintendent in the Hanover Public S.D. as well at the South Middleton S.D. before moving into a higher education position at McDaniel College. Al led the Ed. Leadership program for five years as a half-time administrator/half time professor for aspiring school principals in his encore career. Al also taught adjunct in the Ed. Leadership programs at Shippensburg Univ., Wilson College, York College of Pa, and Penn State. Most recently, Al served as the interim superintendent at Shippensburg S.D. and also assisted the Chambersburg S.D. in the role of a floating principal. Al holds a doctoral degree in Ed. Leadership from Immaculata University. Finally, Al is active in the community with his church, AYSO soccer program, and sits on the board of the Adams County Christian School. He has two daughters and six grandchildren that all reside in the Gettysburg area.
