Administrative Regulations

Administrative regulations contain details, procedures, forms and letters developed and approved by school administrators to enhance effective board policy implementation. Development of an administrative regulations manual adds a layer of protection for the school entity by ensuring consistency and clarity in administrative operations through the provision of a sound organizational structure. PSBA provides several service options to assist administrators with the development and maintenance of administrative regulations at the local level:

  • Model administrative regulations manual containing approximately 550 administrative regulations guides to be customized by the school entity. This service provides both hard copies and electronic copies of the administrative regulations guides, a toolkit with tips to develop the administrative regulations, and one free year of updates through the Policy News Network+ (PNN+) newsletter.
  • Model administrative regulations manual with an on-site consultation from PSBA staff to provide training and resources for developing your administrative regulations manual.
  • PNN+ newsletter, which provides recommended new and revised policy updates and recommended new or revised administrative regulations guides. Subscribers may also request up to 25 administrative regulations guides of their choice annually.

Board Operations Guidelines

An effective board of school directors not only governs through board policy, but has developed and maintained a set of guidelines for its own operations. PSBA Board Operations Guidelines (BOGs) are designed to provide some of the detail, including forms and letters, needed to implement the 000 Local Board Procedures section of the board policy manual. The BOGs include information and procedures to address several areas, such as board policy development, filling a board vacancy, duties of board officers, abstentions from voting, board committees and solicitor services. BOG documents are used as a foundation or framework by the board, who tailor the documents to meet local needs prior to approval by the board.

The Board Operations Guidelines are included with the purchase of a full administrative regulations model manual, or may be purchased separately.
