Apr 1, 2021 • 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Social Media 101: What School Leaders Need to Know

Monitoring students’ behavior and interactions on the internet is critical in today’s world because of hazards such as online predators and cyberbullying. This presentation provides a foundational education on social media and how to keep students safe while they are using the apps. Learn how to navigate and enable security features on social media sites, and review best practices to guide your own use of social media.

Regulating and Responding to Social Media in the School Community

What are the policy implications of social media use by the district, staff and students? In considering how to regulate and respond to social media use by different members of the school community, school directors should be aware of the rights and responsibilities of the district, its staff, students and members of the public and how that impacts board policy language and implementation.

Leading on Digital Platforms

How should district leaders think about their influence when using social media and digital communication tools? This presentation will outline productive approaches to leveraging digital communication while also building awareness around the potential consequences of engaging in online spaces.
