New School Director Required Training – Virtual

Per state law, newly elected and appointed school directors in Pennsylvania must complete a minimum of five hours of training during the first year of their first term in office. As an accredited statewide provider for required school director training, PSBA's New School Director Training is designed to meet the PA state training requirements for all newly elected and appointed school directors.

This training offers an overview of school governance and the role of the school board, an introduction to school finance and board policy, as well as an overview of legal implications of the Sunshine Act, conflicts of interest and ethics. Per legislation passed by the PA General Assembly in 2019, a full hour is devoted to introducing trauma-informed education and its implications on school systems. Attendees will receive relevant resources for later reference.

9:30 – 10:30 a.m. – Introduction to Board Governance
10:30 – 11:30 a.m. – Introduction to School Law
11:30 a.m. – 12:00 – p.m. Lunch
12:00 – 1:00 p.m. – Introduction to Trauma-Informed Education
1:00 – 2:00 p.m. – Introduction to School Finance
2:00 – 3:00 p.m. – Introduction to Board Policy
