NASRO Basic SRO Training

Act 67 of 2019 requires all school security personnel, including school police officers, school resource officers and school security guards, to complete the basic school resource officer (SRO) training course offered by the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO).
This 5-day, 40-hour course is designed for any law enforcement officer or school administrator working in an educational environment. The course emphasizes three main areas of instruction:
• Functioning as a police officer in the school setting
• Working as a resource and problem solver
• Developing teaching skills
Attendees will gain a solid working knowledge of the School Resource Officer concept and how to establish a lasting partnership with their schools.
Currently employed security personnel must complete the training by the beginning of March.
NASRO Member Rate: $445.00
Non-Member Rate: $495.00
To register for a NASRO Course:
Step One: Go to the NASRO website at www.nasro.org. If you have a NASRO profile, log into your account and go to Step Three below. You must have a NASRO profile to register. If you do not have a profile you can create one by clicking the red “Join NASRO” button in the top left corner.
Step Two: Complete the profile information. At the bottom of the page select BASIC CONTACT: I do not wish to pay for a membership at this time. Click Update and Check Details. Your profile is now complete. Log into your account now.
Step Three: Go to the course posting at https://nasro.org/events/?event-id=1160. Click the blue registration button on the right. Step 1 is a default, so skip to the bottom. Click Step 2 “Complete Registration”. Next, click Step 3 (at the bottom, not the top) “Pay via Invoice” in order to complete the registration. You must click Step 3 to complete the registration. This will complete your registration.
Registration deadline is September 15, 2019.
