Grants target school safety tech and literacy
The Department of Justice’s COPS School Violence Prevention Program, which helps fund school safety technology, such as access controls, shatterproof film, communication technology, and cameras, to name a few, needed to secure buildings and ensure the success of emergency plan management, is currently open and accepting applications. The grant will fund up to $500,000 with a required 25% cost match and has a two-step application process, the first due May 10, 2023, through grants.gov and the second via JustGrants on May 17, 2023.
The Department of Education’s Innovative Approaches to Literacy Program is accepting applications for projects in high-need LEAs that support literacy development for students from birth through grade 12. Projects carried out in coordination with school libraries can focus on book distribution and/or literacy activities, as well as culturally responsive programming. The average award size will be $500,000 and applications are due May 15, 2023.
