School Violence Prevention Program grants available
The U.S. Department of Justice is now accepting grant applications for funding through the School Violence Prevention Program (SVPP). This program supports efforts to improve security at K-12 schools and on school grounds. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Acquisition and installation of technology for expedited notification to law enforcement during an emergency
- Coordination with local law enforcement
- Placement and use of metal detectors, locks, lighting and other deterrent measures
- Training for local law enforcement officers to prevent school violence
