Last week, Acting Education Secretary Eric Hagarty informed schools that the Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Education (PDE) will not be issuing any new or separate public health guidance regarding COVID mitigation and any changes that could impact them in the 2022-23 school year.

Instead, the departments encourage schools to continue to refer to the CDC’s pre-existing guidance available here. Additionally, all COVID-19 health-related information previously available across PDE and DOH websites has been consolidated into this website hosted by DOH.

However, schools will still be required to report positive cases of COVID-19 to DOH throughout the 2022-23 school year. This process will remain the same as it was last year: schools should report aggregate case numbers to DOH on a weekly basis using a short survey on the Future Ready Comprehensive Planning Portal. Schools should only complete the survey if there are new cases in the school during the reporting period. If your school does not have any new cases within the reporting period, you do not need to submit a survey response. Surveys should be submitted to DOH by 5:00 p.m. on Fridays and schools will be able to start submitting reports today, Friday, August 19.
