The nonprofit Manufacturers Resource Center (MRC) provides programs that help schools expose students to career-readiness experiences. Through the “What's So Cool About Manufacturing?” contest, students and teachers are trained by professionals in video filming/editing and provided with equipment to create a two-minute video in collaboration with a local manufacturer. The PA Dream Team consists of representatives from regional manufacturers are trained to speak with students about their careers using presentation materials, hands-on activities and lesson plans that align with academic standards. These programs are free to schools and already available in many regions of the state. Compatible items for state career readiness requirements are included with the educational programs.
