Podcast available: Building Inclusive, Poverty-Informed School Communities
As a person who grew up in migrant labor poverty herself, Dr. Donna Beegle (keynote speaker in the upcoming School Leadership Conference) holds firsthand knowledge of just how inequitable school can be for children coming from poor households. Through leading her organization Communication Across Barriers, Dr. Beegle has spent her career helping others understand how those living in poverty experience life differently. In the classroom, understanding poverty helps shatter myths and stereotypes, and this knowledge is key to creating a more equitable learning experience for all students. On a recent episode of Keystone Education Radio, host Annette Stevenson speaks with Dr. Beegle about her passion and commitment to breaking the poverty cycle.
