Deadline for PSBA’s 2021 Legislative Platform approaching
School boards have until June 30 to become involved in the development of PSBA's Legislative Platform and selection of top priority issues. The platform is PSBA's official record of positions on legislative issues and is the guide for the association's advocacy efforts. Below is more information about how to become involved:
2021 Legislative Platform: All PSBA-member school boards are invited to submit proposals to be considered for the 2021 Legislative Platform. The deadline to submit items for consideration is Tuesday, June 30. All proposals must be approved by your board and submitted to PSBA by the deadline. Click here for guidelines and submission forms. All proposals will be reviewed by the PSBA Platform Committee on Saturday, August 1 and receive final consideration by the PSBA Delegate Assembly on Saturday, November 7.
Legislative priority survey: In addition, this year all individual school board directors are invited to participate in a separate process to select PSBA's Legislative Priorities for the upcoming 2021-22 session of the General Assembly. Recently, all school directors were emailed a priority issue survey. Please respond to the survey by June 30; the results will be presented to the Platform Committee and recommendations will be presented to the Delegate Assembly for a final vote.
Appointment of voting delegates: Now is the time for school boards to name their voting delegates for the Delegate Assembly meeting scheduled to occur on November 7. We ask that after your board votes on its delegates, you submit that information here. Only school directors, school board secretaries and members and secretaries of the governing body of other PSBA member entities are eligible to serve as delegates. Assistant and recording secretaries, superintendents or other administrators are not eligible by virtue of such positions.
