On March 27, Governor Wolf signed Act 13 of 2020 into law, amending the School Code to address issues schools are facing due to the COVID-19 outbreak, which resulted in statewide, indefinite school closures. The provisions in Act 13 apply to school districts, intermediate units, career and technical education centers, charter schools and other programs for the 2019 – 2020 school year.
Act 13 encompasses guidance for the 180-day waiver, closure of schools, flexible instruction days, pay and PSERS credits for school employees, special education and continuity of education plan, among other items.
