Consulting Solutions

School districts face many unique issues, and board members and administrators can’t be expected to be experts in all areas. To better assist our membership in key operational areas of school governance, we are introducing Consulting Solutions to our members. This service is designed to help you meet these challenges by custom-tailoring solutions to fit your district’s needs.

PSBA’s Consulting Solutions are delivered by retired administrators who will partner with PSBA to help school boards address important issues of school governance. Long-range planning and focused problem-solving will serve to continuously improve the day-to-day operations of your school district. Yet school board members, superintendents and business officials don’t always have the time or the in-house expertise to do it and do it right.

PSBA Consulting Solutions can assist issues facing your school board including:

  • Leadership turnover. The number of Pennsylvania’s superintendents and school business officials retiring continues to grow. Does your district have an entry or transition planning for new superintendents, and have you defined the board’s role in that process? 
  • Strategic planning. Results come from actions. Actions require priorities. Strategic Planning is where a school board contributes best, where board members use their wisdom to paint a desirable picture of the school district’s future. 
  • Understanding District Operations: Create an environment where a district’s superintendent and board leadership gain a common understanding on how the educational and business affairs of the district are designed, delivered and assessed. In the end, superintendents and school boards must work together to improve schools and student academic performance.

Members may have other operational needs that could be addressed through the experiences of former administrators as well.   We are open to having those discussions and seeking ways to serve you through Consulting Solutions as we continue to execute our mission of offering the highest level of service to assist local lay leadership in providing and promoting excellence in public education.  With the expected volume of superintendent turnover throughout the next few years, PSBA’s Consulting Solutions will leverage the expertise of school leadership practitioners to bring added depth and impact to the professional development of school directors in Pennsylvania.
