Travel Accident Insurance

If a school district has a need, chances are that PSBA has a service, expert or program to meet that need.

Notice of carrier change

Please be advised that the PSBA Insurance Trust is changing carriers for the Travel Accident Program available to all School Board Members and school district administrative employees.  Effective Dec.r 1, 2009, the Travel Accident carrier is changing from AIG to Prudential.

During a rigorous RFP process, we evaluated a number of national insurers on benefits, claims handling, customer service, staffing and pricing.  After reviewing the results, it became evident that Prudential provides the biggest “bang for the buck” by maintaining the coverage’s of the current program, but also including a number of enhancements that include but are not limited to:

  • Monthly Rehabilitation Expense - For when a doctor determines that rehabilitation is medically necessary to aid an insured in returning to normal activities of a like person.
  • Felonious Assault - For when an insured suffers a covered loss due to a physical attack by another person resulting in bodily harm.
  • Return of Remains - For when an insured suffers a loss of life outside a 100 mile radius of their home.

In mid September open enrollment materials will be sent to all districts as well as additional information outlining specific coverage’s, insurance amounts, limitations and exclusions.

Protecting Your Family. Securing Your Future.

Thank you to all who have renewed, or joined the PSBA Travel Accident Insurance program for 2009/2010.

To continue to offer this outstanding benefit to our members we must follow a few administrative procedures as we go forward:

  • As per the letter dated September 2009, enrollment for the program ended November 23, 2009 for Administrators and January 10, 2010 for Board Members (24 hr. and dependant/spouse).
  • The district is covered for as many people that enrolled for the new term.
  • Changes can be made to replace people, but the number of insured must remain the same.
  • Open enrollment for 2010/2011 will be in the fall of 2010.

Again, thank you for your participation in this program.  Please contact Tony Wright at (866) 403-7700 x 333 with any questions regarding this program.

The Travel Accident Program
If you are physically healthy, you can work, play, take care of your family and enjoy life. But, if something were to happen to you, all your hard work - and everything you have - could be lost unless you have taken steps to protect yourself and your family. Having adequate insurance coverage provides the protection you need to ensure that your family, your home and your finances will be protected.

Because PSBA is concerned with the welfare of its school board members and their families, it arranges annually, to cover each member for accidental death or injury while traveling to, attending and returning from a board-sponsored meeting. This valuable insurance program provides a $150,000 death benefit and comes without cost to the board member. Board members who also serve on area vocational-technical or intermediate unit boards are covered through their local board.

Supplemental 24-Hour Coverage
Each member at his/her own discretion and expense may extend this protection to 24-hour coverage for the board member and eligible family members.
