School Boards Adopting Property Tax Limitation Resolutions |
Act 1, the Property Tax Relief Act, allows school boards to adopt a resolution, by January 25, 2007, stating the intention to limit any property tax increases for the upcoming fiscal year to the inflationary index established by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. By adopting such a resolution, a school board agrees to maintain a balanced budget within the index, not seek a back-end referendum and forego any possible back-end referendum exceptions.
