The Pennsylvania School Boards Association is a nonprofit statewide association of public school boards, pledged to the highest ideals of local lay leadership for the public schools of the commonwealth.

Marcus began with the Parkland School Board in 1995. She earned her bachelor's degree from Queens College (CUNY). Marcus has served on the boards of the Parkland SD Community Advisory Council and Lehigh Valley Business Education Partnership, Parkland Community Library Capital Campaign & Steering Committee, Renew Lehigh Valley Leadership Council and Lehigh Valley WIB. She also assisted with the PSBA Commission on Effective School Governance, was the Lehigh Co. Legislative Coordinator, was assistant director for Region 8, and served on the PSBA Platform Committee, the Forums Advisory Committee, NSBA's Federal Relations Network and Legislative Action Council, as well as serving as Parkland SD's liaison to PSBA. Marcus earned a PA House citation and Senate resolution for her service with the Parkland Community Library and a U.S. House of Representatives Congressional recognition for "Spirit of Volunteerism."
